New products丨Deep groove ball bearings for high-speed servo motors

(NTN) has successfully developed a new type of bearing, the deep groove ball bearing for high-speed servo motors.

  • High speed rotation and reduced vibration through improved cage materials and shapes
  • Helps machine tools reduce machining time and improve machining accuracy

NTN Corporation (NTN) has successfully developed a new type of bearing, the deep groove ball bearing for high-speed servo motors. The bearing is particularly suitable for use in the spindle drive area of machine tools, and is capable of maintaining low vibration operation at high rotational speeds. This feature helps machine tools to shorten machining time and improve machining accuracy, and NTN plans to expand this bearing to customers worldwide.

Background

In the current situation where the labour force is decreasing, the production line is actively taking various measures to reduce the reliance on manpower and increase production efficiency. Especially in the field of machine tools, the speed of the machine has to be increased in order to reduce the machining time, and the machining accuracy has to be increased to ensure the stable quality of the products. As a result, the bearings used in servomotors, which provide the driving force for machine tools, must be able to operate at high speeds with low vibration.

However, bearings operating at high speeds face many challenges, such as deformation of the cage due to centrifugal force, damage, and internal heat generation. In response to these problems, NTN has analysed the root causes of cage deformation and vibration, and has improved cage materials and shapes to maintain stability at high speeds. Based on these findings, NTN has successfully developed a high speed, low vibration deep groove ball bearing for high-speed servo motors for machine tools.

Features of the new product

1 High speed: High speed performance dmn

High speed: High-speed performance with a dmn value of 1.9 million (more than 40% higher than NTN’s existing products).

In addition to the use of improved materials to enhance the rigidity of the cage and effectively suppress deformation caused by centrifugal force, NTN has also carefully designed the shape of the cage and increased the amount of grease sealing, thereby improving lubrication performance. The combined effect of these improvements greatly improves the temperature rise characteristics of the bearings at high speeds, resulting in a significant increase in high-speed performance.

2 Low vibration: approximately 50% lower than NTN preexisting products

In addition to the use of improved materials to enhance the rigidity of the cage and effectively suppress deformation caused by centrifugal force, NTN has also carefully designed the shape of the cage to increase the amount of grease sealing, thereby improving lubrication performance. The combined effect of these improvements greatly improves the temperature rise characteristics of the bearings at high speeds, resulting in a significant increase in high-speed performance.

Servomotors, as the core power source of various types of industrial machinery, are increasingly in demand for improved performance, miniaturisation and high speed. In response to this trend, NTN has launched the ‘Deep Groove Ball Bearings for High-Speed Servomotors’, a low vibration bearing designed specifically for high-speed servomotors, and the ‘Low Dust Raising Bearings for Servomotors’, which will be marketed globally in conjunction with NTN. NTN is committed to helping solve the challenges faced on the production line and to promoting industrial manufacturing in the direction of greater efficiency and precision.
